The Costa del Sol includes about 300 km of the Spanish Mediterranean Coast belonging to the Provinces of Granada, Malaga and Cadiz.
It is protected from the northern winds by a mountain chain which sometimes reaches down to the edge of the sea. The transformation of the Costa Del Sol over the last 15 years from a string of tiny fishing villages into a fully developed resort area, surpassing even the French Riviera in terms of investment, has increased the permanent population tremendously - both Spanish and foreign.
